Totally live!

Many restaurants have music playing continuously throughout the night. It’s usually a cd that plays over and over again……the average length of stay for any given table is usually about an hour, so chances are they will not here any one song more than once. But….if you’re working all night, you will start to hear all the songs repeat. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing…there were always a few songs that really perked me up when I heard them. On some nights you’d find yourself practically dancing down the aisles…and of course other songs would drive you nuts, though it was easy enough to tune them out.

Ah, but live music…. It just creates such an electricity in the air! You can almost touch it….as you go through the door from the kitchen into the lounge, you’re instantly caught up in it….there’s a spring in your step…if you have a free hand your fingers start snapping…sometimes you find yourself singing along…so do the guests…..you notice others enjoying it with a barely discernable sway…..whenever our vocalist sings “New York, New York”….I break out with a couple of high kicks behind the bar….we all enjoy it in our own way. Some guests have even stood up next to their table and relished the embrace of a slow dance……

Our vocalist currently uses cd’s as her back up music….it works…..we all have our favorites, and she sings them for us…

But starting this weekend we go totally live!!!!! One of the best keyboard players I have ever heard (and I’ve been around a while) will be joining her! When this guy puts his fingers on a keyboard, absolute magic happens…..it’s mesmerizing…..what a blast this is gonna be to see two of my favorite entertainers performing together! I can feel the crackle of the electricity in the air just thinking about it! I’m already smiling and swaying, and my fingers are snapping….I CAN'T WAIT!!!!!!!
