I’ve heard many things over the years about how may times you have to do something before it becomes a habit. “You have to do something 7 days in a row, and then it becomes a habit” Or, “It takes two weeks to develop a habit,” or “After 28 consecutive days, you will have developed a habit.” Yesterday, I wrote my 200th blog! I’m pretty sure I may have fallen into the habit category.
When I started writing these blogs, I was working at a corporate restaurant, shortly after that, I was fired. Then I had to give up my apartment and move in with my son. I was sued…actually didn’t even know when the court date was…..but the outcome would’ve been the same….my book was published and available online…..didn’t have enough money to buy any copies myself….but I kept writing this blog 5 days a week.
Then my publisher ran afoul of….whatever…..never got paid for the books that were sold….but I kept writing the blog.
Started my own publishing company…..as most things, it took much longer to get going than I had originally anticipated, was more frustrating than I thought it would be….but I kept on writing this blog….
But that old saying, “Keep on keeping on” kept running through my mind…..(I think of that as the “hippie” version of “Keep putting one foot in front of the other“)
So now at long last….my book is once again available! It can be found at the Barnes & Noble website, just type in the title, The Bar Wench From Hell, and it’ll pop up. (To me, that’s magic) Or…you can come and see me at work, at The Courthouse Grille, in Plymouth, Michigan…..I’ll have copies with me.
Since I seem to have developed a habit, I’ll keep on writing this blog. I think it’s really cool that I got to celebrate two things in one day, my 200th blog was written on the same day my box of books arrived. I’m feeling pretty good about all of this…..I have but one word to say: “WHEW!”
